Snuggle up next to the roaring wood burner after a long fell walk or unwind in the vast garden, sipping wine on the sun loungers. Walkers will be in their element, with Scafell Pike just 9 miles away and numerous smaller walks directly from your front door. Giggle Alley Forest (0.5 miles) is a great place for an afternoon stroll, particularly through the magical Japanese Garden. You can’t come to Eskdale without a ride on the steam railway, which carries you through the National Park to Ravenglass (6.5 miles), a coastal village with bags of seafaring character and charm.
Step inside the stone cottage and into the impressive lounge, which features statement furniture and fabulous exposed beams adorning the ceiling. Relax on the leather sofa in front of the warming wood burner to watch your favourite programme on the SkyTV. Three steps lead from here to the kitchen/diner. This light and bright space is full of character, with elegant slate flooring and the cottage’s original bread oven. Rustle up a tasty dinner for two in the electric oven or on the gas hob, to share together at the round dining table. In the kitchen/diner you’ll also find the fridge/freezer, microwave and handy washing machine. Stairs lead from the lounge to the mezzanine king-size bedroom.
