Our cottage has a fantastic rural setting with stunning countryside in all directions. Spacious accommodation comfortably sleeps 5 people in 2 bedrooms and the large modern and fully equipped dining kitchen that is perfect for conversation over home cooked meals. Two large sofas are perfect for lounging on to watch TV or the many varieties of birds who visit the feeders just outside. The family sized bathroom has a separate shower enclosure with a power shower and a large bathtub to soak in.
The area is steeped in tradition and history with centuries old Border Reivers and Common Ridings, abbeys, a world famous textile heritage and more recently, the best off road mountain biking you can find anywhere. There are many walks, cycle routes, golf courses and nature reserves in the Borders and at night we have a blanket of starry skies which spans uninterrupted for miles. If you like stargazing, we have amazing vast dark skies here at Colterscleuch. We are also close to Kielder Observatory and only 2 hours from Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park.
Colterscleuch is the perfect base to explore the Borders and further afield. The Lake District and Northumberland National Parks are just a short drive away. The east and west coast beaches are too. Our capital city, Edinburgh, can easily be reached by train - so no stressful congestion or parking issues and a beautiful journey through the Scottish Borders!
The Cottage is your home while you're here and you have private access to the patio garden, shared access to the acre of garden between the house and cottage, access to the river, and an enclosed area overlooking the river and hills with a rustic fire pit to enjoy a campfire under the stars.
There is off- road private parking for 2 or more vehicles in the carport and hard standing to the rear for motorbikes.
