Located just off Cockermouth’s main street, you will find a good selection of local independent shops and restaurants on your doorstep. In the summer, you can catch a complimentary bus to beautiful Buttermere from the town (runs from 17th July to 5th September). Walk from the centre of town onto the top of Watch Hill (3.5 miles) for a fabulous view across the Solway Firth to Scotland, or south to the hills and the northern valleys. Or, why not try out some of the bike tracks or Go Ape at Whinlatter Forest, only 7.5 miles away? Keswick is only 14 miles away and hosts the popular Mountain Festival annually with some world-class sports, outdoor activities, talks and films, with live music.
