Positive: The hotel is on Toshijima Island about 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal at Wagu. There are regular daytime ferries to and from Toba on the mainland. Someone from the hotel team was waiting for us at Wagu ferry terminal and drove us the short distance to the hotel. We took the lift up to the 3rd floor and dropped our bags in our room. One of the hotel team offered to drive us to a local restaurant where we had a nice meal featuring local seafood. The hotel itself is a little dated but the facilities are clean and function fine. There was a small lobby with a toilet and sink leading into our room which was a good size for the 3 of us and futon beds were made up for us. It was air conditioned and there was a large low table with Japanese style floor seats. There were sea views from the room windows. There was another toilet further down the corridor and separate male and female bathrooms on the 2nd floor with sinks, 3 showers and a large bath in each. The next morning we were served a very nice breakfast which included locally caught fish and prawns with egg and salad leaves. There is a bar in the hotel lobby and on the 2nd evening we had a drink down there with the owners of the hotel who shared some of their excellent supper with us. The following morning we were offered a lift up to the observation point by one of the hotel owners who then drove us to the ferry terminal. The staff speak Japanese and Chinese. Although they did not speak English, we were able to communicate just fine using translation apps, and they were very helpful and friendly. We cannot praise the hotel staff enough for their attention and kindness which contributed greatly to us having an enjoyable stay on the island.
Negative: Nothing of any great note but the room did not lock but there was a safe inside the room if needed but we didn't feel the need to use it. Obviously an en-suite bathroom would have been ideal but, as mentioned in the review, there was a toilet and sink in the room lobby so it wasn't a big inconvenience.
