Hawes is a real gem of the Yorkshire Dales, a stone-built market town with excellent pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and a very good selection of shops. Visitor attractions include a working rope maker, the Dales Countryside Museum and the much publicised Gayle Mill. The surrounding Upper Wensleydale scenery is absolutely stunning, some of the finest on offer in all the Yorkshire Dales and is renowned as one of the finest walking areas in the country. A highlight would be taking a stroll alongside the River Ure at nearby Aysgarth Falls or going slightly further afield to the Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks. The market towns of Settle, Leyburn and Richmond are a short drive away, whilst Semerwater and Hardraw Force, England's highest single drop waterfall, are all nearby.
